Shiatsu Massage
Shiatsu massage was developed when the Japanese combined principles of Traditional Chinese Medicine, with principles of acupuncture.

The word “shiatsu” derives from the root words, “shi” meaning finger, and “atsu” the word for pressure. Shiatsu massage implements a rhythmical massage to alter the flow of Ki into a healthier, stress free flow.

The Shiatsu massage focuses on key points called acupoints. 350 acupoints are spread along the body's 12 Meridians. The neck and back contain 90 of these points leaving the rest spread throughout the body.

Swedish Massage
“Swedish Massage” is a general term which describes many massage techniques which use different types of strokes. It is more gentle than Shiatsu massage but shares many of the same benefits.

There are many types of Swedish massage. The most prevalent type is called “Effleurage.” It implements a long, smooth stroking massage motion. Another popular type of Swedish massage is “Petrissage” which implements a kneading movement. Some techniques implement tapping, stretching, circular movements of the palm and quick body vibrations.

Rolling Massage
Rolling is a Massage function used to help relieve pressure on intervertebral disks. It accomplishes this by stretching the spine, allowing it to retain its natural curvature. Panasonic Massage Loungers come equipped with a Rolling Massage function for that purpose.

Follows Your Natural Curves
The Panasonic Massage Lounger is built to follow the curve of your spine for a more pleasurable massage. The curve is more outstanding on the upper portion of the Panasonic Massage Lounger. The result is that blood is pushed toward the heart and blood flow is increased. Plus, with a 30 inch stroke length, this chair can gently stretch vertebrae from the neck to the lower back.

Exclusive Technology for Extremely Realistic Massage
Panasonic massage chairs offer the kneading function through patented gear technology. Panasonic analyzed the finger function of top professional massage therapists and duplicated their movement. Each massage head is like the thumb of a massage therapist; gentle on the skin yet firm and effective. Kneading movements are applied both in upward and downward strokes, to push blood toward the heart and increase circulation.

Tapping Massage
Bad circulation leaves muscles with depleted oxygen supplies and starved for nutrients. Tension, headaches, neck and shoulder pain is your body’s way of telling you about poor circulation. If it is not treated, tension can spread and muscles can harden, which generates pain in other areas.

The tapping function of a massage chair increases blood flow. Increased blood flow allows more oxygen to flow through the body, relieving tension, bodily pain and headaches. It also moves nutrients throughout the body and assists with the removal of waste.

Panasonic massage chairs can deliver 500 beats per minute to work out muscle tension. The results are felt immediately through the invigorating feeling after a tapping massage.

Four Styles of Massage
The Advanced Quad-Style Massage System features massage heads that open and close for four styles of massage. They also come as far as four inches out from the chair.

The four styles of massage are:

• Shiatsu
• Kneading
• Swedish
• Grasping

1,117 Different Massage Modes
From the four massage styles 1,117 massage modes arise. These 1,117 massage modes, combined with control over massage speed and intensity offer virtually infinite types of massage feelings.
